The regulatory status of homeopathy in Luxembourg

Homeopathic practice

Treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of disease are restricted to medical doctors. Article 7 of the Law of 29 April 1983 stipulates that persons without the required qualifications who practise or participate in the diagnosis or treatment of real or supposed pathological disorders through personal acts, verbal or written consultations, or other methods, can be prosecuted.

Homeopathy is not officially recognised but may be practised by medical doctors, although they are not allowed to advertise.

Homeopathic medicines

Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use, which includes homeopathic medicinal products, have been implemented into the national legislation Règlement grand-ducal du 26 septembre 2006 modifiant: le règlement grand-ducal modifié du 15 décembre 1992 relatif à la mise sur le marché des médicaments.
